Why it matters
In a wearable cardiac monitor, moving data is the expensive part.
Sampling a heart is cheap. Storing days of it and pushing it over a radio link is what drains the battery, fills the memory and inflates the bill of materials. Compression at the source attacks all three at once.
Longer battery life
Fewer bytes on the radio means fewer transmit windows. The compression core runs in a power envelope far below the transceiver it saves.
More recording days
Extend a Holter patch’s wear window on the same flash and the same battery. In the US, crossing into extended-wear monitoring changes the reimbursement tier for the study — and battery life is what decides it, not the sensor.
Lossless, no argument
Reconstruction is exact, sample for sample. There is no error bound to negotiate with your regulatory team, and no cardiologist second-guessing what they are reading.

The core of BioRLE-1 is published under the Apache License 2.0. Your engineers can clone it, run it against your own recordings and audit exactly what happens to the signal. What we license is the part that makes it drop into your silicon: the integration layer, the verification collateral and the support that comes with it.
